"We may not be responsible for the world that created our mind, but we can learn to take responsibility for the mind with which we create our world"

Counselling offers a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings and experiences, and begin to make sense of the things that may be troubling you. Life can feel overwhelming at times, and even the strongest among us can experience periods of feeling lost, stuck or unhappy. Therapy can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, develop healthier ways of thinking and relating to yourself and others, and find new ways to navigate life's challenges.
While we cannot always control what happens to us, we can begin to understand how we respond to life's difficulties and explore different ways of moving forward. Counselling can support you in making sense of your experiences, reconnecting with yourself and working towards a more balanced and fulfilling life, where you feel more able to be yourself.
I believe that every person's journey through counselling is unique, and that therapy should reflect this. I work within an integrative approach, drawing on a range of therapeutic approaches to meet your individual needs. I seek to understand you as a whole person, including your experiences, relationships and the wider world in which you live.
My approach is rooted in humanistic principles and the belief that each person has the capacity for growth, healing and change. I see you as the expert in your own life, with your own strengths, experiences and resources. My role is to offer a supportive space in which these can be explored and understood.
You don't need to have all the answers or know exactly where to begin. Counselling offers a space for us to explore things together, just as they are, and work towards understanding what you need. I won't tell you what to do or try to fix things for you. Instead, we will work collaboratively, at a pace that feels right for you, to develop greater self-awareness and understanding. Together, we can explore what matters to you, recognise patterns that may no longer be helpful, and consider new possibilities. My hope is that, through our work together, you will feel more empowered to make choices that reflect who you are and move towards a life that feels more comfortable, meaningful and fulfilling.

There are four primary therapeutic processes which I draw from. Throughout our journey we may explore one or even all of these approaches, dependent on your therapy goals.
Person-Centered therapy involves the client exploring their feelings, thoughts, and behaviours in a safe and non-directive space. The goal is to help clients gain insight into themselves, promote personal growth, and develop a greater sense of self-worth.
Cognitive behavioural therapy is a talking therapy that focuses on how a person's thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect their feelings and actions. The client will work with the therapist to understand their thoughts and behaviours and will then learn and implement new coping styles that will empower them and support them in making changes that will allow them to move forward in life. Cognitive behavioural therapy supports you in exploring with current problems rather than focusing on experiences from your past.
Solution-focused therapy is a short-term, goal-focused therapeutic approach that focuses on exploring the clients strengths and resources as a means of fostering growth and change. It places focus on the present and future rather than past experiences.
Psychodynamic therapy is an approach that allows the client to explore how their unconscious thoughts and emotions influence their current behaviours. The therapy will allow the client to delve into early life experiences, aiming to uncover and address unresolved conflicts. The goal is to enhance self-awareness and promote personal growth.
To meet the diverse and often dynamic needs of a wide ranging client base, I offer both in-person therapy from my home in Melksham and I also offer online therapy via Zoom and Teams.
Individual therapy sessions for adults of all ages who need support in navigating their way through various life difficulties. I provide a safe, supportive, and confidential environment for us to work through your difficulties at your pace with the aim of moving towards a happier and more balanced life with a better understanding of themselves and others.
